PEERS Social Skills Groups
Is your teen struggling to make friends?
Are you a young adult who feels alone and disconnected?
We all need friends. Research shows that friendships decrease depression and anxiety by providing emotional support, fostering a sense of connection, and reducing stress.
People with 1-2 good friends are more satisfied with life, and experience a buffer against the negative effects of stress. Conversely, social isolation is linked to increased anxiety and depressive symptoms.
Did you know that social skills can be taught, practiced and then used to develop friendships?
We are trained to offer the PEERS Social Skills Groups through the UCLA Semel Institute.
Groups are for teens and young adults and a support person to be the home coach.
We cover:
- How to use appropriate conversational skills
- How to be a good host during get-togethers
- How to find common interests by trading information
- How to choose appropriate friends

- How to enter and exit conversations between peers
