Social Skills Groups/Research
At Virginia Beach Clinical Counseling, we offer UCLA PEERS Program. PEERS is an evidence-based social skills program originally developed at UCLA to help teens and young adults build meaningful friendships and stronger social connections. Participants learn practical, step-by-step strategies for navigating conversations, handling conflict, and developing relationships in everyday life.
Teen Groups focus on helping adolescents learn and practice skills for making and keeping friends, joining and maintaining conversations, handling teasing or rejection, and navigating social situations at school and with peers. Parents attend separate sessions at the same time and learn how to support and coach their teen’s social growth at home.
Young Adult Groups help participants build confidence in social relationships, including friendships and dating. Through structured lessons, role-plays, and real-world practice, young adults develop conversational skills, learn how to organize social activities, and improve communication and relationship skills with peers.
